Kenya is a bright place. There is an energy that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. What stuck me most was the joy found in ordinary moments. People dressed in their traditional bright colourful clothes wear real frank smiles, expressing their excitement from meeting us with wide opened eyes. People who may have far less in material terms can sometimes appear richer in the things that many of us, in highly developed societies ,have gradually lost- time for one another, presence and care for our siblings, ability to enjoy what is infront of us. We spend years becoming educated and successful. We build comfortable lives and surround ourselves with convenience ,yet so many of us end up exhausted, anxious, running to the next thing. There is a hardship in Kenya as well. But alongside it there is extraordinary vitality- in colours of the clothes and markets, in theirs surroundings, in people's faces and in the way life seems to happen openly, rather than behind closed door and screens.
Kenya is bright because of its people
